**PURPOSE:**



Responsible for the safe operation of winders, glue machines, and folder/stackers; packaging finished goods, making quality checks and handling scrap product. Assists with scrap reduction, housekeeping, and maintaining quality standards; observes all safety rules and conducts assigned duties in a safe manner.



**RESPONSIBILITIES:**



+ Follows all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Performs duties in a safe manner and reports all observed safety hazards to the Senior Operator, Production Supervisor, Team Lead or Safety Coordinator. Acts as a role model for Safety on shift. Participates in Safety 100 program by reporting Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Close Calls

+ Ensures a quality product through regular quality checks by reading and verifying line orders and spec sheets. Conducts regular product quality checks as required. Reports any out of spec products to the Senior Operator immediately. Follows all processes and procedures regarding product quality. Accurately and completely fills out quality check sheets to ensure consistent product checks.

+ Contributes to the smooth operation of their section, by partnering with the Senior Operators and Lead Packers to ensure safety, quality, production, and housekeeping meet or exceed world class standards.

+ Properly packages finished goods to include correct use of labels, chips, sleeves, twist ties, pallet patterns and code stamps. Responsible for proper packaging of all finished goods to achieve the best cosmetic presentation possible. Responsible for verifying and executing pallet patterns.

+ Maintains a neat and orderly work area; meets plant and department housekeeping standards. May be assigned additional housekeeping responsibilities throughout the plant as needed to maintain a clean and orderly work space.

+ Assigned to multiple winders, bag machines, etc. based on bag count and line speed, as deemed necessary by management.

+ Safely operates glue machines including jam clearing, filling carton magazines.

+ Participates in employee driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety or other production related issues.

+ Assists in giving breaks to other Packers on the lines as needed.



**QUALIFICATIONS:**



+ **Education:** Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.

+ **Experience:** In addition to the educational requirements previous manufacturing experience preferred.

+ **Mathematical Skills -** Basic mathematical skills to be able to understand simple mathematical concepts such as percentages and ratios; Ability to read a weight scale and tape measure and/or ruler to perform quality checks and transfer to documents.



**Other Skills And Abilities**



+ Basic knowledge of computers is desired.

+ Must be able to perform repetitive motions in a fast paced environment.

+ Can work with minimum supervision in a fast paced environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and/or walk for 8-hour shifts. Employee is also required to lift boxes of packaged product weighing up to 35 lbs. unassisted. Employee is required to use hands and fingers to retrieve product from bin/trays, and insert into packaging material.

Must customarily have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety. Incumbents must be able to work any shift.
