What will you be doing?
Must demonstrate good team skills and possess a good knowledge of all locomotive systems, both electrical & mechanical. The main purpose of this position is to provide quality and efficient maintenance & repairs on GATX owned locomotives in a safe manner. The Field Services Specialist will take direction primarily through the crew assigned Sr. Field Services Specialist.
Other work related tasks as assigned, including inventory cycle counts, receiving & issuing material, fleet vehicle maintenance and general facilities maintenance and cleaning. This position will interact with Sr. Field Services Specialist, operations staff and on site customer representatives. This person must maintain consistent safety focus, be competent around locomotives, and be familiar with all customer site requirements to fulfill the scope of this function, which is to repair locomotives at the customer locations. Must be sensitive to customer demands and be flexible in work hours. Possess strong locomotive mechanical & electrical system knowledge, along with increasing display of performance with on-going improvement in skill and knowledge of locomotive repairs. Must handle and successfully complete locomotive repairs and inspections in a timely manner. Demonstrates skill with inventory & supply management. Consistently demonstrates skill in customer relations, using good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a part of a team.
What are your key activities? Locomotive field service & repairs - always uses current repair & inspection procedures and performs work safely. Conduct locomotive inspections to insure each unit is in compliance at each of the specific sites & assist with repairs as necessary. Customer Support Meets the expectations and requirements of all customers. Ensures that customers are satisfied with the work. Clerical ensures that all necessary invoicing, inspection, & work order information is complete in order to facilitate correct and timely customer billing. Maintains all certifications, including TWIC cards, Houston area safety council & site specific safety training requirements at various locations on the Gulf Coast. Demonstrates strong familiarity with FRA rules and regulations. Provides alerts to Managers as to when certifications and orientations are due.
What is required of you? Must have a strong mechanical & electrical aptitude. Possess the ability to trouble shoot mechanical & electrical systems, along with problem-solving abilities to make sound decisions. Have ability to be a team leader & have a background in EMD locomotive repair. Possess a strong understanding of FRA rules & regulations. Locomotive mechanical & electrical inspection experience along with the ability to grasp all aspects of the Field Services Specialist function is a must. FRA Rules along with adherence to GATX Rail Policies, Safety and Quality procedures and other training provided by company. 2 years of locomotive repair experience recommended along with a high school diploma or GED required.

Other things to note: Must be able to travel within 150 to 400 miles of the work location, as necessary. Occasional overnight stays away from home Must be able to lift up to 90 pounds Must be able to stoop, climb ladders and safely perform work tasks. Must work in all types of weather conditions. Valid Drivers License (CDL preferred)
