The Mgr Logistics DM is responsible for the operational functions for assigned department(s) or shift(s) in the distribution management environment. This position provides direct supervision of the assigned operations and ensures compliance with company and location policies, procedures and work instructions in order to provide a safe and productive work environment, optimum customer service and accurate records. This position is responsible for leading, guiding, training and directing Leads, Customer Logistics Supervisors (CLS), and/or Customer Logistics Managers (CLM). This position works directly with managers, supervisors and hourly employees and my interact with the customer and/or have Profit and Loss responsibility depending on the complexity and scope of the organization. All work is subject to review by the LM/SLM/GLM and Ryder Corporate Process Owners such as Finance, Human Resources, Safety, etc. Error could result in customer dissatisfaction, loss of profit, safety or security incidents.
* H.S. Diploma/GED * Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred * Four (4) years or more experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehouse or industry related field * Three (3) years or more of supervisory experience * Three (3) years or more of application experience in Lean principles, systems and tools. Experience using formal Root Cause Countermeasure Systems preferred * Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated leadership capabilities * Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (Peers, Work groups, Customers, Supervisors) * Ability to work self-directed with minimal supervision * Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment * Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills * Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices * Excellent problem solving skills * Strong organization, analytical, and computer skills * Ability to manage individual performance and employee relations * Ability to effectively manage Profit & Loss statements may be necessary depending on the complexity and scope of the operation (Preferred) * Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of warehouse operations (Intermediate level) * Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (Intermediate level, Preferred) * Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) may be required based on position (intermediate level, preferred) * Knowledge of OSHA (Intermediate level) * DOT/Hazmat knowledge may be required based on the account(s) (Intermediate level, Preferred)
* Provide leadership for employees through in-depth training and continuous review of employee understanding of policies, procedures and processes. Create a productive work environment through effective communication, coaching, motivating and leading by example * Maintain open and effective communications within assigned work group(s) and the rest of the operations within the organization. Communicate daily/shift goal of facility and group(s). Devise, communicate and implement plans to obtain operational goals. Work with and motivate employees to ensure goal completion. Organize data, provide results and recommended actions for management review * May interface directly with the customer(s) via telephone or e-mail to ensure timely response for documented open issues based on the complexity and size of the operation * Maintain a proactive safety program within the work group(s) consistent with company policy in order to provide a safe and secure work environment. Instruct and enforce location safety management plans, training and processes. Monitor the maintenance of equipment for assigned work group(s) by using checklists and observations as required * Identify and/or solve operational issues with the account(s) by implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives, to strengthen team unity, goals, productivity and results * Hire, train, supervise, develop and manage performance of employees and maintain a positive employee relations environment at assigned operation(s) * Performs other duties as assigned
